Understand Load and Capacity

Load compares planned commitments with available working capacity over time. It helps Managers and teams see where a plan needs negotiation.

What Load represents

Cards uses organization-controlled schedules, estimates, dates, assignments, and relevant unavailable periods. Capacity is not a promise that every hour will be productive, and utilization is not a measure of personal worth.

Use Load to make decisions

When commitments exceed capacity, examine the underlying Cards and timing. A responsible response may change sequence, assignment, scope, estimate, or target date. Preserve approval and permission boundaries when changing work.

Workers should communicate known constraints. Managers remain responsible for the conditions surrounding the commitment and for negotiating changes rather than treating Load as an employee score.
